MY MISSION

The Whiteman Agency was created to bring together the substantial publishing and business expertise of long-time executive Doug Whiteman with the creative talents of authors and illustrators who are looking to better navigate today’s complex publishing environment.  While focused primarily on children’s writers and illustrators, the agency also serves projects destined for the adult market on occasion.  Doug knows executives, editors, designers and marketers in virtually every children’s publishing division and company in New York and Boston, and he is in a unique position to marry the right projects with the right homes.

Doug’s many contacts in the legal and financial areas of publishing give him resources unavailable to most agencies, and have given him particular expertise in the area of copyright.  He brings years of experience as a business executive, a negotiator and a publisher to his work as an agent – a combination that is likely unrivaled in most other literary agencies.
