David M. Salkin is the author of fifteen published thrillers in various genres, including military espionage, crime, horror, science-fiction, action-adventure and mystery. With a writing style reminiscent of the late Michael Crichton, Salkin’s work keeps his readers turning pages into the late hours. His books have received Gold and Bronze medals in the Stars & Flags book awards, and David has appeared as a guest speaker all over the country, including three times as a panelist at Thrillerfest in NYC.
David served as an elected official in Freehold Township, NJ for twenty-five years and was inducted into the New Jersey Elected Officials Hall of Fame in 2019. Freehold township named a street after him when he retired from his duties as mayor and township councilman. He is a 1988 graduate of Rutgers College with a BA in English Literature.
When not working or writing, David prefers to be fishing, Scuba diving or traveling. He’s a Master Diver and “fish geek,” as well as a pretty good chef and wine aficionado.
What’s Next? David has written his first science fiction thriller, entitled The Travelers, which is now available for review and acquisition. A brief description:
Deep space exploration isn’t possible with today’s technology because a human body can’t travel trillions of miles over thousands of years. But what if we didn’t need our bodies?
DARPA’s new deep space “Traveler Program” allows the non-physical being to be separated from the physical being and transported to the quantum universe. The part of a human that makes us each unique – call it a soul, consciousness, chi, or life force – is able to travel in the quantum universe faster than the speed of light. With this new technology, travelers can finally visit distant planets in search of life, and possibly the origins of our own.
But there’s a problem. Space travel in the quantum universe, or “multiverse,” also allows for time travel, an unintended consequence of the mission. Travelers can not only travel to the far reaches of the universe, but can also step back into their own past and change their history, and potentially everyone else’s. Human nature can’t be trusted with such power, and once those in power realize the potential for a time-travel-superweapon, life on Earth is in peril.
The Travelers is a story of human nature, and endless possibilities. Like many great inventions, the Traveler Program possesses the potential for great achievement, or epic destruction.
